2020 End of Year Awards
The Student Life awards honor exceptional staff members and initiatives in the Division of Student Life. Awards will be presented in each of the four categories listed below. For details on the criteria, see the scoring rubric.
OUTSTANDING STAFF AWARDS
These awards will recognize one outstanding classified employee, one new professional, one mid-level professional and one senior-level professional who has displayed an unwavering commitment and passion for their work and the University of Washington.
- Helps to create a better environment for employees, students and campus community
- Has gone above and beyond regular job duties and exhibits exceptional performance, collaboration & integrity
CLASSIFIED STAFF: Must be employed in a classified staff role.
NEW PROFESSIONAL: Must have less than three years of experience as a full-time student affairs professional in career (UW or elsewhere).
MID-LEVEL PROFESSIONAL: Must have at least three years of experience as a full-time student affairs professional in career (UW or elsewhere).
SENIOR-LEVEL PROFESSIONAL: Must be employed in a director level or higher role.
OUTSTANDING NEW INITIATIVE
This award recognizes a new initiative that has made significant impacts to the UW community.
- Initiative happened since July 2019
- Demonstrates innovation
- Addresses a need within the department or Division of Student Life
- Created an impact on the UW staff, students, or greater campus community
OUTSTANDING TRADITION (ONGOING OR CONTINUING INITIATIVE)
This award recognizes an ongoing or annual program/initiative that continues to make significant impacts to the UW community.
- Initiative has existed on campus for at least 2 years
- Demonstrates continual improvement
- Addresses a need within the department or Division of Student Life
- Created an impact on the UW staff, students, or greater campus community
OUTSTANDING EQUITY, DIVERSITY OR INCLUSION EFFORT
This award recognizes an equity, diversity or inclusion effort that has made significant impact to the UW community.
- Initiative/Program happened since July 2019
- Addresses a need within the department or Division of Student Life
- Created an impact on the UW staff, students, or greater campus community
RETIREMENT RECOGNITION
Please help us recognize a Student Life Staff members retirement. We are seeking to recognize staff that have retired/will retire between July 1, 2019, and June 31, 2020.
ABOUT THESE AWARDS
Student Life Award Applications are due by 11:59 pm on Friday, August 14, 2020.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony once physical gatherings are permitted. We will share the date as soon as we are able.
